Skills Assessment Grid for a French Class

An end-of-term skills review for a French class: skills per subject, four mastery levels, a general comment and signatures from teacher and parents.

What is already in this template

  • 5 pre-titled sections
  • 3 tables
  • 1 highlighted callouts
  • A multi-column layout

Using and adapting it

A tracking sheet is only useful if it can be filled in between two lessons, so keep the columns few and their names short. Write comments as sentences about a specific child rather than stock phrases — you will recognise who it was when you read it back at the end of term, and parents can tell the difference too. Tables here stay whole across a page break, so no student is cut in half between sheets.

Common questions

Does a long table get cut across pages?
No — tables stay whole across a page break, so no student is split between two sheets.
How do I write comments quickly but usefully?
Write sentences about a specific child rather than stock phrases. You will recognise who it was when you read it back, and parents can tell the difference too.
Do I need to know LaTeX to use this template?
No. You edit it like an ordinary document — type, drag blocks, insert formulas from a visual keyboard. LaTeX only runs underneath to set the page, and you can still export the source if you want it.
