Getting started

What is Texva?

Write LaTeX-quality documents without knowing LaTeX.

Texva is a block-based editor (like Notion) that helps teachers create worksheets, exams, lecture notes, and slides with LaTeX-grade print quality — but you compose visually, without typing LaTeX syntax.

Who it’s for

Math, Physics, Chemistry, CS, Economics teachers who need clean formulas and a clean PDF.
Anyone writing structured exams, answer keys, or grading rubrics.
Anyone writing a thesis/report that needs citations, a table of contents, theorems.

Tip: type "/" anywhere to open the insert menu — the fastest way to reach every feature.

Create your first document (5 minutes)

From a blank page to a PDF.

From the Dashboard, click "New" and pick a document type.
Type a title, press Enter, and start writing content like a normal document.
Need a formula? Type "/" then pick "Inline math" (or type $...$).
Need a table/figure/question? Type "/" and pick the matching block.
Click the PDF button (top right) to preview and download the print output.

Everything autosaves. You never need to click Save.

Get to know the interface

Center area: the editor itself.
Right panel: Document Properties, Table of Contents, Bibliography, Glossary, Assets (images), Question Bank, AI Assistant, Comments.
"/" menu: insert any block type (headings, math, tables, figures, questions...).
PDF button: compile and preview the print output.

Open "Properties" in the right panel to set font, paper size, margins, numbering, paragraph style, cover page, and more.

Writing content

Text formatting

Select text to bring up the floating formatting toolbar: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, code, text/background color, font size, small caps.

New paragraph: press Enter.
Paragraph style (line spacing ↔ first-line indent): Properties → Paragraph Style.
Left/center/right/justify alignment: the formatting toolbar.

One key to insert anything.

Type "/" at the start of a line (or anywhere) to open the insert menu. Keep typing to filter by name or keyword (e.g. "table", "question", "theorem"). Commands are grouped: Basic, Lists, Math, Teacher, Academic, Insert, Layout.

Math formulas

Type math with MathLive, see it live with KaTeX.

Insert "Inline math" for a formula within a line of text, or "Display equation" for a centered formula. You type LaTeX inside the math field and it renders live.

Tables, images & diagrams

Tables: "/" → Table. Click a cell to add/remove rows and columns, merge cells, change borders, colors, headers.
Images: "/" → Image, or drag-and-drop an image into the editor.
Diagrams: "/" → pick a template (Flowchart, Mindmap, Chart, Function plot...) or start a blank drawing. A library of 35 templates, editable through a data form (no code needed).

A figure/table with a caption is automatically numbered ("Figure 1", "Table 1") and can be cross-referenced.

Advanced blocks

Callout boxes: Note, Warning, Tip, Definition, Important, plain bordered box.
Columns: 2 or 3 columns; Landscape page for wide tables/figures.
Code blocks with syntax highlighting.
Page breaks, vertical spacing, horizontal rules.

Academic documents

Citations & bibliography

Open the "Bibliography" panel (Properties → Advanced).
Import a .bib file, or add entries from a DOI/CrossRef, or drag them from Zotero.
Type "/" → Citation to insert one; pick a source.
Pick a citation style (IEEE, APA, Vancouver...) in the panel.
Insert "/" → ... the reference list is generated automatically on export.

Turn on "Use BibLaTeX (biber)" if you need the full academic-standard citation styles.

Table of contents, numbering & cross-references

Table of contents: "/" → Table of contents.
Section numbering: Properties → enable "Section numbering".
Equation numbering: Properties → "Equation numbering" (continuous / per-section / per-chapter).
Labels & references: "/" → Label (set a label), → Reference (point to a label). Supports \ref, \eqref, \autoref.

Theorems, index, glossary, appendix

Theorem/Lemma/Definition/Proof/Example: the "Academic" group in the "/" menu. Configure numbering in Properties → "Theorem numbering".
Index: "/" → Index entry (mark a term), → Print index (print the index).
Glossary & acronyms: the "Glossary" panel to define terms; "/" → Glossary term to reference one; → Print glossary to print it.
Appendix: "/" → Appendix (subsequent sections are lettered A, B, C).
Footnotes: "/" → Footnote.

For teachers

Questions, solutions, hints, answer keys, rubrics

Question: "/" → Question (with points, difficulty).
Solution / Hint / Answer key / Rubric: separate blocks that can be hidden from students.
Multiple choice: "/" → Multiple Choice (A/B/C/D, mark the correct answer).
Exam header: "/" → Exam Header (school, subject, time allowed...).

Automatic question numbering: Properties → "Question numbering" (numeric/letter/roman style, "Question" prefix).

Generate exam variants & student/teacher versions

On export, pick the audience: student version (hides solutions/answers) or teacher version (full content).
Generate multiple exam variants: shuffle questions/answers from a seed, each variant gets its own code.

Export & print

Preview & export PDF

Click the PDF button to compile and preview. If there’s a compile error, the app shows a readable message instead of a raw log.

Vietnamese text: the app handles diacritic fonts automatically. If characters are missing their marks, check the font in Properties.

Export to LaTeX / Markdown / HTML / Slides

LaTeX (.tex): to keep working on Overleaf or submit the source.
Markdown: for the web/a blog.
HTML: a self-contained page, math rendered with KaTeX.
Slides (Beamer): a presentation mode sharing the same content.

Importing documents

Import .tex / Overleaf / .docx / Markdown

From an Overleaf project: download the .zip and import it (multi-file merge and macro expansion handled automatically).
Standalone .tex files, Markdown, and .docx (Word) files can all be imported.
A .bib bibliography file is imported from the Bibliography panel.

An unrecognized LaTeX command on import becomes an editable "Raw LaTeX" block — no content is lost.

No PDF / compile error: read the error message; usually a malformed raw LaTeX command inside a Raw LaTeX block.
Image not showing: make sure the image was uploaded to Assets (not an external link that hasn’t loaded).
Vietnamese text missing diacritics: switch to a font with full Unicode support in Properties.
Can’t find a feature: type "/" and search by keyword, or check "All commands".
